Search cannot correct unclear source material

A retrieval interface can make content easier to find, but it cannot decide whether the source is approved, current, complete, or relevant to the task. These are knowledge design questions that should be addressed before adding an assistant or search layer.

Create retrieval-ready records

For each important source, record what it is, who owns it, what it supports, when it was reviewed, and what should happen when it conflicts with another source. This gives people and systems a usable context for interpreting results.

Design access around work

A sales team, content editor, operations lead, and AI workflow may need different views of the same source library. Retrieval becomes more useful when access patterns are designed around the work being done rather than a generic document browser.
